Harvey Nichols beauty event with Harpers Bazaar

This week I attended Harper’s Bazaar Beauty Hot 100 event at the Manchester Harvey Nichols store.

It was well attended so there was a nice bustling atmosphere and with plenty of things going on, it was a very successful event. Tickets were £10 which was redeemable against purchases on the night, and this was well worth it when you consider that complimentary drinks (including cocktails and Cava) were available (I made the most of this!).

Activities on the night included:

  • Make-up masterclasses and makeovers
  • “Exploring fragrance” – exploring the senses by matching this season’s fragrances with complimentary tastes, such as rose crèmes!
  • Beauty trend presentations and skincare tutorials
  • Mini manicures at the nail bar
  • Hair styling with GHD
  • Complimentary hand massages

Being well prepared for the event, I went with the aim of finding a new foundation, as I’ve not been too happy with my current one. I decided to have a colour match, consultation and makeover with Cover FX, a foundation range developed in Canada by dermatologists. I was impressed by the finish that the Natural FX Water Based Liquid Foundation gave me, and liked the flawless look which didn’t feel too heavy or lifeless, so I bought this at £27 (as I got £10 off), and received a free primer – Cover FX Brite Prep FX and small pot of setting powder – Setting FX Loose Powder.

I was also impressed with the goodie bag, which was jam packed with all sorts of products, samples and miniatures, including Bliss Body Butter, Elemis body cream, perfume samples from By Kilian and Penhaligans and a plethora of anti-aging serums and creams. Awesome!
