The concept behind Wilmslow boutique Black White Denim is that a complete and successful wardrobe only needs three core building blocks – black, white and denim. With these items you will be able to put together a chic, stylish look every day with no hassle! I can certainly relate to this, as I often can’t decide what colours to buy of certain items, always wanting them all! And there’s always a time when I’m putting an outfit together knowing that I should have bought another colour!
Last week the store celebrated their first birthday by putting on an informal drinks reception (with canapés) for their loyal clientele, who also had the chance to meet and chat with designer Jan Ahlgren who was showcasing his autumn/winter collection on the night.
I interviewed Jan Ahlgren about his collection, his label and his inspirations, and his designs were modelled by the BWD team during the night (and looked stunning!). He said that he designs with a versatile fit in mind, so that different shapes of women can wear them and look chic. I could definitely see this in the flowing lines and shapes of his dress collection!
I also interviewed owner Jo Davies, who told me about the inspiration for the boutique and the concept, e-commerce and the success she has been enjoying for the past year, not least in terms of all the wonderful press the store has received.
It was a lovely evening and a great way to celebrate a fantastic first year! The articles will be available on http://www.manchesterfashion.com/ soon.
