I love the collections of Irish designer Orla Kiely. Those sixties-inspired colours and prints that are so reminiscent of awful wallpaper from the past look so sweet and stylish in the form of printed shirts and dresses. If, like me, you like a vintage look but with a modern twist, this is a brand to watch. And I’m happy to say that it seems to have been a good week in the world of Orla Kiely!
Friday’s Orla Kiely AW12 show at London Fashion Week has been a big talking point. Breaking with runway tradition her collection was shown as part of a wartime-esque tea dance event complete with a live big band. Not that her collections need anything special to stand out, it nevertheless seems that creating the perfect setting for her cute autumn/winter looks (completed with gold ankle socks and dancing shoes) proved to be a big success, as it is all anyone was talking about!
And only today Kate Middleton has been spotted out in Oxford in an adorable-yet-cozy Orla Kiely printed coat dress. It’s never going to be a bad thing when the stylish Duchess wears items from your collection, and if past experience is anything to go by, this can only spell a sell out for the dress.
