This week I’m mostly inspired by the tropical brights of the SS13 Diane von Furstenberg show. In particular I love how colour-blocking complimentary orange and blue tones can create a gorgeous summer outfit. This colour combo really makes me think (hope/dream) of warmer weather!
To make the blue and orange combo work I suggest picking orange pieces in bright volcanic tones – the spicier the better – and combining with items in a cool, pretty pale aqua or a classic navy for a smarter look. A bit of adapting and it works for all sorts of summer situations, from weddings and parties to stand-out work outfits and even cute casual looks.
On my more confident days when the sun is shining I’d take inspiration directly from the DVF looks with bold block colour separates… but an easier way to wear the look would be to just add accessories in the complimentary colour. It also works with prints – love those paisley print shorts!
