Traditional Afternoon Tea at Patisserie Valerie

Slowly but surely I’m getting round to trying all the afternoon teas in Manchester and latest on my list was Patisserie Valerie as last weekend I was invited down to Valerie’s afternoon tea party with some other lovely local bloggers. If you’re not aware of Patisserie Valerie as a place to pick up some luxurious cakey treats then you’re really missing out, but the cafe is a nice spot for lunch too, and now they offer an afternoon tea for two for £25.

As you can see it’s a traditional afternoon tea setup with no quirky business, which I think is a good call as it’s totally in keeping with their traditional patisserie vibe. As a nice extra touch there is also a little brochure to read all about the origins of afternoon tea and about how “Afternoon Tea” differs from “High Tea”. It’s all very classic and English!

So on Valerie’s afternoon tea you get a selection of sandwiches (cucumber; smoked salmon; egg mayonnaise; ham and mustard; chicken, pesto and sunblazed tomatoes) and a mini quiche per person, 2 lovely warm fruit scones each with loads of jam and clotted cream, and a selection of cakes to share between 2 – mini Victoria sandwich; 2 mini eclairs; carrot and walnut slice; berry mousse slice and chocolate mousse slice. These can easily be cut into 2 if you don’t want to miss out on any of the flavours! So there is simply loads of food and I got full very quickly. The price of £12.50 per person is great value and everything was very delicate and delicious, so I think as an afternoon tea venue it’s a winner!

  1. I live right around the corner from a PV but have never thought to pop in! Looks like you had a fab time! 2 scones each? I’m not sure I’d be able to fit them in! Can’t believe you get all that for only 12 quid!
