My criteria for the perfect souvenir

“If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” William Morris

I really do stand by this quote, as it is oh so easy to spend money on pointless items and fill your house with things you end up wanting to sell within a couple of years. Unfortunately there is far too much out there that can be defined as useful or beautiful that my new golden rule is to only have things that are both useful and beautiful.

In an attempt to make the most of my hard-earned money and also the space that I have available in our apartment, I’ve become very selective over what I buy, and particularly so when it comes to souvenirs. Ok, so I did return from Disneyland with a pretty Snow White soft toy, but that will live in my car. Other than that though I found it hard to find something to buy that I knew I would use. Luckily I found this very wearable multi-chain bracelet with Mickey Mouse clasp, which is totally on-trend and even features a slither of neon pink.

Last month I also bought a friendship-style bracelet with monkey charm from Monkey World, and I’m now thinking I’ve perfected the art of finding the non-gimmicky souvenir! Now I just need something Jubilee-ish or Olympics-related.
