After being ill at the start of the week it was lovely to spend today recuperating. My sister and I enjoyed a relaxing spa day at the leafy Marriott Worsley Park in the form of an experience day from ExperienceDays.co.uk.
There are a lot of experience day packages out there, particularly spa day experiences, and I’ve done my fair share of looking into them over the years. So what am I looking for when buying one? Well assuming I’m buying it as a gift I’d be looking for something that feels like a real package, where the lucky recipient really can make a day of it. And as much treatment time as I can get for my money! I’m also looking for some nice options of spas where the voucher can be redeemed. I did love the gift-like packaging that came with this one!
In this case our experience day could be enjoyed by one person or shared between two, and included 2 treatments plus the chance spend the day using the hotel’s spa and leisure centre facilities. And there was a good choice of Marriott hotels on the list including Marriott Worsley Park, which is a country retreat hotel in with lovely grounds. It’s not a city centre hotel so we drove to get there, but I find a leafy, peaceful location like this so much more relaxing overall.
We spent a pleasant hour chatting in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room; tried out two of the hotel’s bar/lounges for morning drinks and lunch; and each had a 30 minute treatments at The Spa of Senses. I chose the Decleor mini-facial, which used the Aroma Cleanse range, and my sister the back, neck and shoulder massage. Sadly she was far too relaxed to notice the products used. The only problem I have with spa treatments is that they never seem to last long enough (they could go on forever, for me), and I end up getting the bug and wanting to book another and another. Overall, it was a much-needed relaxing day.
