The Christmas build up in Manchester

Christmas is as much about the build up as the 12 official days, don’t you think? So before the big day starts I thought I’d share my snapshots of the build up, which basically involves several meals/nights out/work parties in Manchester. First up some festive cupcakes brought into work, which I’m sure I’ll be taking inspiration from in future!

Dinner at Jamie’s Italian

One of our agencies at work took us out for a meal at Jamie’s Italian, which I was really pleased about as I’d never been. The interior is stunning, as it is a converted bank building. If you go and get chance, you should take a peek at “The Vault” for private dining. We had a set menu, where I had a shared antipasti starter, a filet steak main and a honey and pine nut tart for dessert. I thought the food was all quite tasty, but to be honest not really worth the hype. I think you’re paying for the “Jamie Oliver” brand and the gorgeous building here. A fun night though!

Three course Christmas meal at Browns

We went on a team lunch to Browns, where the setting was again very lovely. The inside was decorated very festively and the bar area is stunning. However, apart from the pork belly (delicious – see photo below), I was a bit disappointed with the food quality and found it very overpriced. Another good night though!

Christmas markets in Christmas jumpers

This festive night out with a group of friends involved hot dogs, chocolate skewers and hot chocolates at the Christmas markets, 2-4-1 cocktails, outdoor drinking at The Oast House and novelty Christmas jumpers – mine was from Primark for just £12!

Another work lunch with an agency

I was very excited to try out Solita in the Northern Quarter. I walk past it every day and have heard amazing things about their burgers but had never been. I was not disappointed. This is the epic Solita burger – smoked brisket chilli, Lancashire cheese, pickles and BBQ sauce. Amazing!

The Big One – the Christmas do at The Palace Hotel

So this is the event I went to the most trouble over in terms of getting an outfit together. I got a nice navy sequin top skater dress, some new jewellery, went with a deep raspberry colour for my lips and nails…. and then didn’t get chance to take an outfit photo! All I’ve got at the moment is this one of my gorgeous necklace (£5 from Primark!) – although I’m sure someone has some from the event. Here’s hoping!

Anyway, I’d like to wish you all an amazing Christmas, whatever you’re doing. See you on the other side, hopefully without indigestion!

Merry Christmas x
