Snuggle season is here, and as the days get colder and darker, there are so many ways to give yourself a little lift. Think comforting upgrades for the home rather than cheap pumpkin mugs and disposable autumn decorations. And finding little lifestyle extras and indoor activities to make your autumn extra cosy. Here are my 15 favourite ideas for hibernating this season:

Upgrades for Keeping Warm and Snug
Because priority number one is getting cosy:
1. Find the Softest Pyjamas
If there’s one thing you’ll need to see you through till spring, it’s a comfy pair of PJs. My favourites are always made from the softest cotton, such as this pair from Chelsea Peers.
2. Light All the Candles
Draw the curtains and create a cosy warming glow in your living room. Candles and wax melts with autumnal scents like cinnamon, black cherry and wood smoke are perfect for creating those seasonal vibes and romanticising these colder days.
3. Invest in a Heated Throw
You’re going to need blankets, and lots of blankets. And if I had to share my number one find of recent years, its my Silentnight heated throw. It’s just the dreamiest way to warm up through the colder months!
4. Grab a Pair of the Cosiest Socks
Get extra cosy with the thickest, warmest socks. I can’t get enough of my Nordic socks once October hits. And they make great little Christmas gifts for friends and family too!
5. Add a Hot Water Bottle
Still a bit chilly? Curling up with a fluffy faux fur hot water bottle will do the trick.
Autumnal Activities for Hibernation Season
Forget going out in this weather! Here’s what I’m doing indoors instead:
6. Autumn Movies
Certain movies are just perfect for giving all the autumn vibes. My top picks are Knives Out for a really cosy murder mystery set during autumn, plus romcoms When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail. And maybe even a dash of Frozen 2 for a touch of autumnal magic.
7. Get Lost in a Book
Once the summer days are over my taste in books kind of changes. All of a sudden I want something where I can snuggle up and really get lost in another world for weeks on end, so that extra-long period classic is perfect! And fantasy books also feel extra cosy for me at this time of year. Tis the season for slow reading!
8. Crafting & Needlework
It’s also a great time of year to get a little crafty. A fairly quick autumnal favourite is a knitted pumpkin such as this one. Or you could start getting ready for Christmas gifting with these cute knitted toy patterns. How about a Christmas-themed embroidery piece like this Nutcracker pattern, or a felt Christmas Tree decoration? These projects can take a few weeks, so autumn is the perfect time to get started if you’re creating something festive.
9. Jigsaws and Board Games
Forget going out in this cold. Stay inside where its warm and get stuck into a beautiful jigsaw, or have a fun family afternoon playing board games.
10. Bath Time
A long hot bath is one of my favourite things about the colder months. Make it extra luxurious with some calming epsom salts or essential oils, and light a candle or two while you lie back and relax.
11. Relax With a Face Mask
Not only is face masking relaxing, with the cold winds outdoors and all the indoor heating, this is also the perfect time to treat your skin to a little extra t.l.c.
Food and Drink for Autumn Vibes
Some flavours just really make you feel autumnal.
12. Autumnal Hot Drinks
I’m not a PSL girlie, but can certainly get on board with a luxury hot chocolate like my favourite Cardamom & Rose from Harth, or a mug of winter spiced chai latte.
13. All the Soups
Its soup season and I’m here for it. Especially a spicy parsnip or a curried butternut squash, with a stylish swirl of cream and a piece of sourdough so that I can pretend I’ve gone out to a cosy pub, even though I’m still here curled up on my own couch.

14. Roast Dinners
I’d eat a roast dinner any day, but especially through the autumn and winter months when rainy Sundays are slow and lazy, and there’s extra time to spend perfecting the trimmings.
15. Cinnamon Desserts
Let’s round things off with sweet treats, because if we’re talking autumn flavours, we have to talk about cinnamon. I have just discovered the cinnamon bun gateaux from the frozen aisle in Aldi, which is like a light cinnamon cake topped with fluffy cream and is so delicious with a cup of tea. Or how about baking your own classic apple and blackberry crumble with a generous dash of cinnamon. Autumn perfection!
How are you choosing to get cosy this season?
