I’ve been meaning to visit the Castlefield artisan market (which is held outside Dukes92 every first Sunday of the month) ever since it started in October, but for one reason or another haven’t had the chance. I’d actually forgotten about it, but having seen something on Twitter this morning I decided on impulse to go and check it out as I’d not nothing much to do today.
The gloomy clouds in the sky didn’t detract from this lovely market – which is just the kind of market I think it worth a visit. There was a nice range of stalls selling fresh food, cakes and treats, beauty products, jewellery, vintage and antiques, crafts and home ware, and it feels like a real slice of Manchester in its cute setting on the cobbles, next to the canal and under the brick arches of Castlefield.
I love to support local companies and producers, and despite being a bit poor this month, couldn’t resist buying an Organic Room Candle from The Buddha Beauty Company who are based in Stretford. They come in 9 fragrances (I chose Strawberry and Rose), burn for 50 hours and can be used as massage candles, so I was happy to pay a very reasonable £10 (they are £15 on the website but £10 on the day). I was also given a sample pot of their Orange and Ginger Organic Body Lotion, which smells so unbelievable I can hardly resist eating it, and I cannot wait to try it.
What’s a market these days without macaroons? I had a delicious hazelnut one!

What a lovely way to cap off the weekend! Wish I could have done some shopping there, too.
