After no time off in what seems like forever, I’m enjoying a run of 2 long weekends in a row! And happily the weather is perfect for it too!
Last weekend me and Craig both decided to extend our weekends by a day and enjoy our champagne afternoon tea at Slattery which was a Christmas gift from my parents. I’d never been to Slattery before, but it’s pretty well renowned around these parts as an amazing chocolatier, patisserie and maker of gorgeous wedding cakes, as well as for their lovely Mason’s dining room upstairs.
The champagne afternoon tea gift voucher comes in the form of a silver engraved pebble, which despite having to relinquish it when paying, I think is a really nice touch. And we made the decision to cash in our voucher on a weekday as it’s become an extremely popular lunch spot with local ladies. In fact, it was still pretty busy with a big waiting list on a Monday afternoon!
The afternoon tea itself was excellent – a selection of finger sandwiches, giant fruit scones with jam and clotted cream, and then a selection of fancies, which included lemon cream sponge, almond slices, chocolate strawberries, mini macaroons and a mini trifle shots. I’d easily recommend it as an afternoon tea destination. It was a very relaxing and refined way to spend a Monday – but I felt unbelievably full (and a little sick) afterwards, and didn’t eat much else all evening!
My second long weekend (Easter weekend) is almost here at last too, and I hope you’ve all got some fun/relaxing plans for the 4 days off (if you are lucky enough to get them). I’ve got a few things planned including a bit of style hunting at intu Trafford Centre on Saturday afternoon!
As an official Style Hunter I’ll be hunting down the most stylish shoppers in a quest to find Manchester’s official “Style Hero”. After I’ve found the shoppers with the best personal style a weekly winner will be chosen via an online Facebook vote. They’ll win a fab prize, plus be put to the vote against the winners of the previous few weeks with a chance to be crowned the intu Trafford Centre Style Hero.
This is actually a national event across all the intu centres, and the Manchester winner will then be placed in the National Final to find the most stylish intu shopper in the UK (and win all sorts of prizes of course). Exciting stuff!
So I’m hoping to see plenty of stylish Manchester shoppers on Saturday, and meanwhile, keep enjoying this lovely weather!
I went there for the first time in Jan and also loved it and also probably made myself temporarily diabetic after. So worth it though!
Were you tempted by the chocolate challenge? 🙂
I love the engraved pebble idea, what a cute touch! It looks like a really lovely place as well. x
It looks so much more special than a regular gift card! Shame you don’t get to keep it x
That looks amazing, as do those celebration cakes (although how you’re meant to eat the chocolate bar one I have no idea. I’ll have to bear it in mind if I’m ever in Manchester.
Love love afternoon tea. Slatterys looked amazing…..as do those gorgeous wedding cakes. 🙂
