The seasons are changing and the shops are now full of autumn styles, and yet for some reason I’ve been lacking the inspiration to buy anything new. I had no idea what I wanted! So going along to the John Lewis AW14 fashion show at intu Trafford Centre last weekend ended up being a great source of inspiration for me. I’m now dead set on a pretty pastel coat (I’ve decided to ignore my previous doubts about them being impractical and go with my heart), I loved the whole of the winter florals scene, and I’m obsessed with that rose sequin kimono from Miss Selfridge! See if you feel inspired too! (Note – I’ve listed the items and their brands (all found in John Lewis) as they appear left-to-right).
The printed trouser trend is still going strong, but now in autumn-friendly colours. Oasis seems to be a good place to go to pick up a pair! Style tip: pick tops in colours that feature in the print.

Floral trousers (Oasis); mustard blazer (Oasis); top (Reiss).
Man’s plum chinos (Penguin); teal polo (Ted Baker).
Hummingbird trousers (Oasis); blue waterfall jacket (Warehouse)
I was expecting deep coloured florals and plenty of black, but was pleasantly surprised to see soft pinks, greens and greys instead! I adore that full floral Ted Baker skirt on the left.
Floral full skirt (Ted Baker); pink sparkle jumper (Ted Baker).
Grey floral dress (Phase Eight); Nude handbag (Dune).
Cobalt blue is one of my favourite colours to wear, and John Lewis’ style tip is to pair it with leather pieces for AW14.
Men’s leather jacket and blue animal shirt (Selected Homme).
Blue shirt (Jaeger); black/grey scarf (Whistles).
Blue printed dress (Damsel in a Dress); knee boots (Gabor)
Blue peplum dress (Ted Baker); leather-look jacket (French Connection)
Classic red and black is likely to be big this season, and although it’s not really for me, I do love that red mac from Hobbs.

Navy tea dress (French Connection); red mac (Hobbs), red platforms (Miss KG).

Boring black is out, and prettier shades in soft cuts are in. I think the mint Miss Selfridge one on the left is really cute.

Grey belted wrap coat (Jaeger).
Pink belted wrap coat (Ted Baker).
I thought the glitzy Gatsby look was big last year but it’s set to be even bigger this party season. Embellishment overload! I really want that dusky rose and black sequin kimono, but it seems everyone else does too – everywhere is already getting low on stock of it!
Cream beaded dress (Miss Selfridge).
