It’s that time of year when wedding guests stress about what they’ll wear – and although many of us ladies often go for pretty summer dresses, I’m here to say it’s all about separates right now. Although it may seem far easier to pick out a dress – it’s just one item after all – versatile separates can be much better value in the long term. (Have I mentioned before that I’m sick of having a wardrobe full of dresses I hardly wear?!) Yes, skirts, trousers, blouses and pretty tops are great because once the wedding is over you can mix and match them with different pieces time and time again, getting endless wear out of that expensive “wedding outfit”.
And if you still think it’s too much effort to find a full outfit, here’s something to inspire you…
- Soft greys
Chicwish is my favourite place to look for pretty and unique occasion skirts and I thought this pale grey outfit looked particularly stylish!

- Wide leg trousers
Not everyone is a fan of skirts, and a pair of wide leg white trousers can look very chic for a wedding with a printed top and statement accessories.
Top from Coast; earrings from River Island; trousers from Oasis; sandals from River Island
- Coordinating separates
Could this be the best of both worlds? Pair the pieces together for the appearance of a dress, then wear separately in endless other combinations.

- Floaty maxis
Maxi skirts are a great choice for a summer wedding! And instead of a traditional fascinator, try an oversized flower headband for something a bit different.

Are you going to any weddings this summer? What will you be wearing?

Some of these separates are lovely. I tend to go for bolder colour usually
Oooh these are lovely wedding outfit ideas! I am addicted to the Oasis V&A print collection, I want loads more from Part 2 🙂
LOVE this!!! Especially the Oasis Co-ord! I went to a wedding at the weekend and wore this tropical co-ord from Zara:
